Fresh off 'monkey this up,' DeSantis forced to quit moderating racist Facebook group

Ron DeSantis Quits Moderating Racist Facebook Group Amid Monkey Comment Scandal
Ron DeSantis Was Reportedly an Admin of Racist Facebook Page

Coming off the heels of his “monkey” comment, Ron DeSantis has quit moderating the Tea Party Facebook group. It was recently discovered that the GOP nominee for Florida governor was an administrator of a Facebook group filled with racist images and comments—or, he was until his participation came to light and he had to quit the group.

The Facebook group, simply named Tea Party, has nearly 95,000 members, and users must join the group to post or comment. The banner for the group is an image of the Confederate, Christian and Gadsden flags flying alongside the flags of the U.S. and Israel. (It isn’t affiliated with the conservative group Tea Party Patriots.)

Members of the group have attacked Black Lives Matter and other African-Americans as “ghetto scum” and ridiculed the teenage survivors of the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., on Feb. 14. […]

One member believed the violent far-right rally of neo-Nazis and white supremacists in Charlottesville, Va., in August 2017 was a hoax, writing in a post liked by 1,600 users that the rally was “orchestrated by the left” to “destroy America.”

DeSantis’ affiliation with the Facebook group was discovered by Natalie Martinez, a reporter with Media Matters, who noted that numerous other GOP candidates are also admins, including Arizona Senate candidate Kelly Ward and Virginia Senate candidate Corey Stewart.

Make the White House beautiful again.

A quick look around the group reveals the nature of the members and the admin who moderate it. One of the firsts posts since DeSantis won the party nomination for governor is a side-by-side photo of Melania Trump and a photoshopped picture of Michelle Obama. The headline of the post reads, “Make the White House Beautiful Again.”

In the interest of fairness, DeSantis did not post the meme or others in the group but as an admin, he did not attempt to curtail the blatant racism within the group. The original tea party fought against the oppression of the British but now, the tea party appears to yearn to oppress others with their views. There are even disgusting jokes about the death of Sen. John McCain. DeSantis has remained silent about that as well.

The Daily KOS said, “It took Ron DeSantis one day after becoming the Republican nominee for governor of Florida to show that he’s a flaming racist.”

It is naive to believe that the biased views of a closet racist won’t influence his policy decisions but many cling to claim. Insanity at its finest.

Miami New Times reports:

The DeSantis account listed as an administrator appeared to be his personal Facebook page; his campaign so far hasn’t responded to requests for comment on Media Matters’ reporting, but soon after that story first appeared on Splinter and elsewhere, DeSantis’ administrator status disappeared.

Obviously, DeSantis was caught slipping. Add to that, DeSantis needs a portion of the black vote to secure his ascension to the governor’s mansion. What we can expect next from the Ron DeSantis front is a parade of black people that DeSantis supposedly had the pleasure of knowing and working with. He will even call them friends. When it’s all said and done though, making America great again will benefit what black person that doesn’t adopt or identify with the GOP nominee?

With a little over 68 days left before election day, be prepared to see DeSantis’ racism displayed for the masses so the people of Florida can make their decision.
