Southern slave master and part time White House garden gnome Jeff Sessions invoked his southern Christian teachings Thursday to defend and uphold a Trump administration policy to separate children from their parents at all points of entry into the United States. Sarah Huckabee-Sanders, daughter of “Super Christian” former presidential hopeful, Mike Huckabee, doubled down on Sessions’ remarks kowtowing to the Trump agenda. Needless to say the Trump administration is firmly behind the idea that the migrating parents are to blame for their families being torn apart.
The attorney general said Thursday that having kids does not grant immunity to migrant parents entering the United States illegally. In a speech to the “boys in blue” in Fort Wayne, In., Sessions defended his “zero tolerance” policy placing the blame squarely on migrant families for their own break ups.
“If you cross the Southwest border unlawfully, then the Department of Homeland Security will arrest you and the Department of Justice will prosecute you. That is what the law calls for — and that is what we are going to do,” Sessions said. “Having children does not give you immunity from arrest and prosecution.”
“However, we are not sending children to jail with their parents,” he said, adding that the policy “can result in short-term separation.”
“Noncitizens who cross our borders unlawfully, between our ports of entry, with children are not an exception,” the attorney general said. “They are the ones who broke the law, they are the ones who endangered their own children on their trek. The United States, on the other hand, goes to extraordinary lengths to protect them while the parents go through a short detention period.”
“Persons who violate the law of our nation are subject to prosecution. I would cite you to the Apostle Paul and his clear and wise command in Romans 13 to obey the laws of the government because God has ordained them for the purpose of order,” Sessions said. “Orderly and lawful processes are good in themselves and protect the weak and lawful.”
Sarah Huckabee-Sanders defended Sessions’ remarks saying it is “very biblical to enforce the law,” adding that it was repeated numerous times in scripture.
The latest remarks have sparked fierce rebuke and criticisms from progressives and liberals but this is not the first time that government elite has taken religious doctrine to justify inhumane treatment of “different” people. Let us not forget that Christianity, specifically the western version of it, has been used to justify the mistreatment of Africans during slavery. The Bible is littered with passages that infringe upon the basic human rights of slaves while demanding their unequivocal loyalty to their slave master.
There are passages in the scripture governing taxes. Elitism has spiritually mandated that you “give unto Caesar what is due unto Caesar” and to faithfully pay your taxes (or tithes). Ironically, for a government that likes to turn to scripture when it benefits their agenda ignores other passages that go against the modus operandi. For example, the erasing of debts and more has to jump through hoops and tap dance before trickling down to mainstream thought and acceptance… or just plain rule of law.
These instances are mentioned to make the case of why Sessions and Huckabee are able to use the good book in affirming their case. It is the controlling powers that brought forth the religious indoctrination. It is the controlling powers that manipulate said indoctrination. They created the game and the rules by which to play the game. And even as you play their game, they can continue to “amend” said rules via interpretations and such to the game to keep you off balance.
You will not topple the master while playing by the master’s rules.
