Oregon cop, Daniel Kerbs, admitted to authorities two months ago to sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 16 and soliciting sex online from a child. This week, the Oregon pedo with a badge was sentenced to 150 days in jail plus five years’ probation for having sex with a minor and looking for sex with a minor.

Now a former Woodburn cop following the charges and admission of guilt, Kerbs was arrested in July of last year following an three week investigation by Tigard detectives. He was charged with six counts of third-degree sodomy, six counts of second-degree sexual abuse and one count of first-degree online sexual corruption of a child.

Outrage has set in following the weak sentence handed down by Washington County Judge Charles Bailey Wednesday. The condition for the lesser sentence was that Kerbs entered into treatment and registered as a sex offender. He was also told to keep away from minors and pay for the victim’s counseling and therapy.

From the time of his arrest in July until two months ago, Kerbs was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Woodburn Police Chief Jim Ferraris said the police department was ready to move forward with disciplinary actions for Kerb after an internal affairs investigation but Kerb was allowed to resign before handing out any punishment. The department also worked with Tigard detectives after learning of their investigation.

“We cooperated with them when we were made aware of it,” he said. “(Kerbs) is no longer part of our department.”

Ferraris did admit that the punishment handed down seemed unfortunate considering the nature of the crime.

“It’s disappointing at best,” he said, adding that Kerbs was a sworn corrections officer when he “chose to commit these child sex crimes.”

Kerbs was held on $140,000 bail, but was released a week later after posting a $14,000 bond. As part of his release agreement, Kerbs was ordered to not have any contact with minor children.
